Hawthorne is a North Raleigh subdivision of about 175 homes set on heavily wooded terrain. It is within the watershed of Falls Lake which restricts the home density. Because of this there are lots of wooded and open spaces and the homes are not packed in together.
Homes in Hawthorne were built in the 1980s and 1990s. The homes are primarily traditional in style with a few transitional and contemporary styled homes here and there.
Hawthorne has a reputation as being very active and friendly. People love living here. There is a community pool, tennis courts, and a club house. Because of all the space here there are also walking trails, a covered bridge, and a couple of gazebos throughout the neighborhood.
Hawthorne is located outside of the city limits, which is great for the Raleigh property tax rate. Property tax for Raleigh homes outside the city limits is about half as much as for those homes within the city limits. Hawthorne also has its own sewer and water systems. This is less expensive than inside the city limits. These are definitely added pluses to living in Hawthorne.
Hawthorne is snuggled in the woods but you can quickly get to anywhere you need to be in Raleigh. People living in Hawthorne homes enjoy peace, quiet, beauty, nature, and each other.
Nearby subdivisions include Harrington Grove and Barton's Creek to the West, and Wood Valley is over to the Southeast.
Driving Directions: From I- 540 take Exit 7 for Leesville Road. Go North on Leesville Rd. Turn slight right onto Norwood Rd. Turn left onto N Hawthorne Way into Hawthorne.
