The Duke Energy Center is a downtown plaza that consists of five venues. This downtown Raleigh entertainment center is the main scene for theater, dance, and classical and popular music in Raleigh.
The five components of the center are:
• Lichtin Plaza: a 2-acre lawn area used for outdoor festivals, trade shows, and some very cool or unusual outside performances.
• Raleigh Memorial Auditorium: the largest of the venues - most of the theater productions are held here along with larger musical events.
• Meymandi Concert Hall: home of the North Carolina Symphony, this venue has excellent acoustics. (We saw Maya Angelou here.)
• A. J. Fletcher Opera Theater: this is a small venue where you can often see chamber music, opera, and smaller productions.
• Kennedy Theater: this is the smallest most intimate of the venues and was designed for nontraditional performances and experimental theater.
Should the need arise that you need your own stage, you can rent any of the five venues - remember, "All the world's a stage and all the men and women here merely players."

Driving Directions:The Duke Energy Center is located at 2 E South Street in Raleigh. Take US-1 South into Raleigh. US-1 turns into Capital Blvd. Stay on Capital, cross over I-440. Go another 3 12 miles south. Capital Blvd. becomes Dawson St. Go south on Dawson St. about a mile. Turn left onto South St. Go 3 blocks on South St. Memorial Auditorium is on the right. Raleigh Duke Energy Center is on the left.
