North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is an incredible museum in downtown Raleigh that is filled with four floors of exhibits, live animals, and hands-on activities. It is the largest natural history museum in the Southeastern United States.

NC Museum of Natural Science focuses on North Carolina's geography and animals along with a look backwards at NC with six prehistoric habitats. They explain North Carolina natural history in a visual "alive" way.

It has the world's only Acrocanthosaurus skeleton. In technical language that translates into "great big dinosaur." There is also the world's only dinosaur with a fossilized heart.

In the coastal area you can see live sea creatures - all native to North Carolina. There are some very huge whale skeletons are suspended over head - amazing.

The Mountains to the Sea exhibits let you see habitats from all the North Carolina areas. These include plants and live animals - plus a 20-foot mountain waterfall.

The Museum can be rented for a corporate party or meetings which get rave reviews from everyone.

This museum is an excellent place to learn about the plants and animals that are native to North Carolina. Everywhere you turn there are mini-exhibits to enjoy or interact with. It is a treat for everyone in the family or just yourself.

Driving Directions: Take the Capital Boulevard exit off I-440. Follow the Capital Boulevard (Downtown) designation. Continue south approximately two miles and turn left onto Jones Street. Go three blocks. The Museum is on the right.
