If all the food in the world disappeared except one kind - I would want it to be seafood! Loving seafood like I do - the 42nd St. Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill holds a special place in my heart.
42nd St. Oyster Bar in Raleigh has been around since 1931 so they know what they're doing. They began as a grocery store that served fresh oysters and, after prohibition, draft beer. Since then, 42nd St. has become a well loved Raleigh tradition for good seafood and a fun, casual, relaxed atmosphere.
42nd St. Oyster Bar is large - with a bar area, oyster bar and main dining room. The decor is old-timey, sorta hip, sorta rustic.
They have an extensive menu with lots of fresh seafood and meat for your non-fish-eating friends. It's a meeting place where people come to visit and eat so the noise level can get fun. This is not a quiet little hole-in-the-wall.
To start out, you'll be given their famous hush puppies - the king Southern appetizers. Their hush puppies are incredible! In fact, in the past two decades, people have eaten over 21 million hush puppies at 42nd St. Oyster Bar.
On Thursday - Saturday evenings, they have great live bands playing in The Lounge.
42nd Oyster Bar is a great, casual place to relax, enjoy great seafood in Raleigh, and catch some local live music if you are in the mood.
