Beasley's Chicken & Honey is a culinary trip to our childhood dream of the best fried chicken and all things yummy. Renowned chef Ashley Christensen fries chicken! Yeah!

Here, chicken is the star. The Fried Chicken with Honey is of course, a must. These went together at Chef Christensen's childhood table - so she does them perfectly. The chicken is hot and juicy with a crunchy, deep golden batter crust. Honey adds a sweet kiss that makes taste linger lusciously.

But there is more. The Chicken Pot pie is delicious with a cornmeal floating crust and the Pork meatloaf over mash are foods for the heart.

There's a whole pack of Southern side dishes - Sorghum Baked Beans, Stewed Field Tomatoes, Roasted Beets (Ed's favorites), potato salad, creamy collards, and more. Bar snacks are fabulous and a must try are the cheese grit fries - yup gotta go there.

Atmosphere wise it's interesting - you either love it or deal with it. The menu is on a chalkboard that effective yet challenging if you're in the back. And then there are the stools. You will sit on a backless fountain stool. Hmmm. Some love it and some don't - but the lines to get in prove which side wins.

Beasley's has one of the area's best weekend Raleigh brunches - hands down. Get there early cuz you will wait but it's worth it. Brunch is very busy but just like anytime - service is excellent.

If you are from the South go the Beasley's Chicken & Honey and let the taste take you home. If you are new to NC go to Beasleys to see why southern boys love their mamas.

Grab a friend and have a jar of wine at Beasleys with some food that will make you remember "back when" and make you glad you're here now and lovin it!

By the way, "Beasley" is Chef Christensen's childhood nickname.
