Bloomsbury Bistro is an upscale, lovely French Restaurant in Raleigh in the Five Points area. Chef John Toler puts out a divine, traditional, French menu. The menu changes every six weeks to bring in the most seasonally fresh ingredients available.
The décor is soft, crisp, richly relaxed, and calm. The expectation is that you will be pampered - and you are. The wait staff is knowledgeable and efficient. Their suggestions are worth listening to if you are unsure which way to go.
If available, the Yankee fish cakes are extremely good. Of course Ed always goes for the lamb that is always good. Other dishes we really like are the prosciutto wrapped mountain trout and the Coq au Vin.
We sometimes we want to just share a plate rather than get two full meals. Some restaurants lose their minds over this but Bloomsbury doesn't mind at all. In fact they will present each half as if it was an individual dish. We really appreciate that and it makes for a very pleasant evening.
Bloomsbury is a wonderful classy experience with delicious French cuisine, an attentive staff and a warm upscale atmosphere. Dining at Bloomsbury is an evening you will really enjoy.
