Chubby's Tacos is a great authentic taqueria with two locations in Raleigh. Chubby's Taco is a small place with counter service. You place your order at the front and the server brings your food to the table when it's ready. They have a patio area right outside the front door if you want to eat outside.
The food at this little Raleigh Mexican restaurant is all affordable with most of their tacos sold for two dollars each.
They have 17 kinds different kinds of tacos. From the classic Shredded Beef to pork and fish (super!). They have some fancier tacos like the Steak Fajita, portobello mushrooms, Ahi Tuna and Grilled Shrimp tacos that cost a bit more.
The tacos are served in house-made soft corn tortillas but you can ask for flour or hard corn tortilla if you prefer. They have plenty of meat and top them with cilantro and onions.
The fresh salsa bar is the best. All the salsas are freshly made and delicious plus they have stacks of jalapenos, and lime wedges.
Besides the incredible tacos, Chubby's has a full menu with tortas, quesadillas, gorditas and monstrous burritos.
If you're tired of the same old Mexican food - stop by Chubby's Tacos. It's small but packs people in. Prices are very reasonable and food is always fresh and very good.

Driving Directions: Chubby's Tacos has two location is Raleigh and three in Durham. Here's the directions to the one in Lake Boone Trail Shopping Center. From I-440 Take exit 5 for Lake Boone Tr. In about a half a mile turn right onto Wycliff Rd and into Lake Boone Trail Shopping Center. Chubby's Tacos is in the back.
