Neomonde is thee place in Raleigh for delicious Lebanese & Middle Eastern food and groceries. Neomonde is half grocery and half deli-style restaurant. It's been around forever and was sort of a locals hidden treasure for a long time.
The décor and atmosphere is quick, very casual, and chatty. You order similar to cafeteria style and then find an open table inside or on the patio, both of which are usually crowded at lunch.
Everything here is good for those who love great Middle Eastern flavors. Here are our two favorites that we always have to have.
• Hummus: The best hummus I've had anywhere. It's just the right consistency with just the right tang.
• Shawarma: (Middle Eastern pita sandwich filled with meat, veggies, pickles, and tahini sauce.) My favorite is the lamb and I think it is the best in Raleigh.
Pita bread: Love it! Again, we think it's the best you'll find in the area. We always have Neomonde's pita bread packed in our freezer so it can be close at hand at all times.
Baklava: the pistachio, the pistachio . . . oh my goodness!
They also have great sampler and combo plates so you can try a little bit of everything - like, tabouleh, spinach pies, baba ghanoush, grape leaves, falafel, kebabs, salads and much more. Be sure and peek in the small cooler of drinks at the end of the counter - more treats for your taste buds.
Before you leave, check out their market. There's a plethora of spices, teas, and other cool imported goodies.
Two end notes:
1: If you like the baklava - they make it in big trays and cut it up into little parallelograms. The ends that aren't perfect parallelograms are packaged and sold for $3.99 lb. Much cheaper, and as we all know, a trapezoid or triangle tastes just as good as a parallelogram.
2: Neomonde's location is tad off the beaten path. You can use our directions but I would still take your GPS if you're going there for the first time. Your key landmarks are a Waffle House and railroad tracks. (Some GPS systems will take you to a small Post Office - fear not - you are close. Just go down that side road and it is the first building.)

Driving Directions: Neomonde is located at 3817 Beryl Rd - Take 54/Hillsborough St exit off of I-440 toward Meredith College. Turn right at N Carolina 54 W/Hillsborough St. Turn left at Blue Ridge Rd Take the 1st left onto Beryl Rd. Neomonde, is on the right side of the street.
